10 Easy Ways for Moms to Pray

When you’re a busy mom, it’s hard to find time to pray. With these 10 prayer tips, you can truly form a powerful prayer life and grow closer to God.

Even in the chaos of mothering young children we can find moments of grace. Here are 10 easy daily practices that seamlessly remind you of God’s presence and purpose in your life. Centering your life in Christ doesn’t necessarily have to mean a complicated and lengthy prayer life. He is always seeking you! And He doesn’t expect perfection. Just your heart.

Good Morning, Jesus”

Let your first words each morning be a greeting to your savior! Try this tip straight from St Mother Theresa that will connect you immediately to God by greeting Him every morning. It will set the tone for your whole day. Again, it’s all about building in simple daily habits.

Connect to the Holy Spirit

All you need to say is “come Holy Spirit”. And don’t forget the third party in our triune God. Let the strength of His Spirit flow through you by inviting Him into the moment and your heart. What’s more: we can accomplish more with our day in the help of the Holy Spirit.

Offer It Up to God (AKA Prayer in the Dishes)

Give your task up an offering of gratitude to God. He sees you in your daily work for others. Have you ever heard the phrase: “Wash the plate not because it is dirty, but because you love the person who will use it next.” Another amazing inspiration from St Mother Theresa!

Put Prayer Everywhere

Here’s where you place special bible verses on notecards where you will see them frequently: bathroom mirror, by the kitchen sink, etc. Even if you don’t fully read each verse every time, your soul is reminded of God’s presence.

Mealtime Intentions

Next, consider the natural breaks in your day like meals. Maybe you already have a mealtime prayer habit, but consider expanding it to include prayer intentions. Consider a specific person you could pray for. And definitely ask your kids for suggestions here!

Car Time Tune In

As a mom, I feel like I live in my car somedays. However, car time is prime time to connect with your littles AND with God. Turn off that radio and cultivate silent prayer or lead your kids in a simple “Thank you Jesus” moment.

Techie Reminders

Alexa and Siri, to the rescue! I have an alert on my phone everyday at 3pm to remind me of prayer. Most days I only say a quick “Jesus, I trust in You”, remembering His faithfulness. No prayer, no matter how short, is wasted!

Worship Music

Yeah, I know I just suggested turning off your car radio. But now I’m talking about using music to set a tone and mood in your home. Curate an inspiring playlist of Christian artists and play it often. I also like to have Alexa play our local Christian radio station in the background. Soon you, AND the kids, will be singing along, and sharing in worship!

2:1:2 Prayer

This is a prayer process hack from my pastor. Think of 2 things your are grateful for, one need or concern on your mind, and two people to pray for. Having a process like this is great when you don’t know where to begin with prayer.

1 Minute With the Bible

Lastly, consider building a scripture moment into your day. This is a great addition to your nightly bedtime routine with the kids. Keep a Bible nearby and flip to a page. Set a timer on your phone for one minute. You can read aloud whatever bible verse catches your attention. Kids love taking turns with this, either amongst themselves or with you!
